The Highlight of Our 2011: Dream House Journey

Hubby once asked me, “Are you happy?” and I answered without batting an eyelash “of course I am.”

Who wouldn’t be happy if I have my family around me who always gives me love and support, my kids who are my source of inspiration, my loving and supportive husband who made all my dreams come true and to add icing to the cake, we now have our own dream home.

I told hubby I can have any job like Desk Clerk Jobs or I can even just be a simple stay at home mom but for sure I will still be 100% completely happy and satisfied with my life.

Being able to purchase our own dream house from our hard work is the highlight of our 2011. I remember I was hesitant at first to make this big decision as I am scared of the big financial responsibility that comes with it but I realized now that we can do it, if we will just work hard and sacrifice a little.

We have been paying for the monthly amortization for more than 6 months now. We scramble for a bit during the first few months but I can say that we are completely adjusted now.

I am very thankful because this is one of the greatest blessings that God showered us and I am very thankful for that. I am also very thankful for my husband because if not for him, I will not have the courage to make big decisions like this.

Bedroom Inspiration

Hubby has been looking at the Internet for design ideas for our bedroom. He is not quite satisfied with how it looks now and so he wants to upgrade it a bit to our liking and personality. Not that we have the budget already, but it wouldn’t hurt to get ideas so we can set it in our Dream Board for 2012 so we can get inspiration to work harder right?

He asked me to choose from the sites that he forwarded to me and here are some of my top choices:

• I like how pristine and clean looking this style is. I love the white wall, the high ceiling, the white furniture and how well it blend together to create a very relaxing effect. It makes me want to just stay in our bedroom all day. LOL.

• If I want a different color scheme for our room other than white, I would go for this:
• If I want a minimalist effect, this is my preferred style
I know hubby still has a lot of dream projects for our new home but I am sure we will be able to do that, little by little, one room at a time.

December Parties Hosted by Us

I have been spending my weekends not on online shopping or trip to the malls or searching for the best eyelash growth product but on entertaining guest at our house for the holiday celebration:

* The first Christmas party at our house for my colleagues

* Then the Christmas party at our place for my SK friends

* Christmas Eve and Christmas gathering at our place for my relatives and hubby’s relatives

Though it is very tiring entertaining guest at our new house, hubby and I are enjoying it as we just love to welcome our guest to our humble abode.

If only I will be able to complete my list of things to buy for our new home like Corelle plates, home entertainment system, mini bar and more, then I think all the more we will be more excited to host parties at our place. But little by little….I know we will get there.

Casa Roces

Guess where this cozy place is located:

Early Dismissal kmi kaya naka Rob Place pa for last minute shopping. Tapos late lunch @ Casa Roces. Now I am excited for Christmas

Nah, this is not our house (I wish we can turn our house into something cozy as this place). You don’t even have to drive far to reach this place (although a short drive to Tagaytay to enjoy the cool breeze and to try on B’s equestrian boots would be fun) as this place is located just right in the center of the capital district.

This is Casa Roces. A restaurant inside the compound of MalacaƱang. This is an old ancestral house of the famous Roces’ clan which they turned into a restaurant. This is just a new resto which opened its doors to the public only last July.

My good friend Peachy introduced us to this restaurant and since then we have been hooked. A week will not pass without us dining here. Our favorite: Baked Salmon, Truffle Mushroom Soup, Oxtail Kare-Kare, Ginataang Halo-Halo, Hot Chocolate and more.

Check them out so you can see for yourself how nice the ambiance is at this restaurant and most especially how delicious their food is.

1st Christmas Party That we Hosted at our New Home

This was the table setup for the Christmas party / House warming party that we hosted at our house last December 10.

Table is set but late ang guests dahil sa traffic: Xmas party @ our house w/ Embassy Friends

My friends from work haven’t been to our new house and so we decided to have our party there so they can take a look at our new nest.

Hubby was so excited as he wanted to show our friends the fruit of our labor. He gave them a tour of the house and he was just so happy after receiving praises for our humble abode from our friends.

If hubby will have it his way, he will embark on a major renovation project of our house as he wants to change the layout of the doors and windows. He even wanted to splurge on furniture and Christmas decorations as he wanted our house to look really nice for the parties that we will be hosting at our place this holiday season. But I have to control him as I know that we are a little press for budget.

But little by little, I know we will be able to fix our house according to the style and layout that we want....in the near future.

Garment Racks for Home Use?

I have always dreamed of having a big closet where I can put all my clothes, shoes, bags, and other accessories especially after seeing the walk-in closet that Mr. Big built for Carrie in the movie Sex and the City. But of course we will not be able to afford a walk-in closet as grand as Carrie’s but I am sure there is a way to make it look organized.

One way of organizing is with the use of Garment Racks. One might think that Clothing Racks can only be use in stores but you will be surprise to discover that it can be use as a good organization tool in your home.

These racks can be put inside a cabinet to properly organize all your clothes. This is perfect if you have a large cabinet that needs organization.

Another option is a stand alone system where the rack will be installed in one corner of the room so as to have an additional storage space. This is particularly helpful for those who lack storage space as the racks can be use to hang additional clothes and it even has additional shelves and baskets for organizing your things.

So who says boutique clothing racks are only for garment stores?

Apoderado Residence in California

This is the house of my good friend Fran and Francis in California:

We visited them when we went to the US last May and we are fortunate that Jacq and Niel, my best friend from college, was able to take a day off from work and take us to Fran & Francis’ home.

They live in a gated community in the suburbs, less than 2 hours drive from downtown. Hubby just loves the location of the house as he feels so close to nature. In fact, on our way to the Outlet store, this was our background:

I am sure if we live here, hubby will stock dakine products like backpacks, jackets, gloves and more so he can go hiking any time he pleases. If we will be migrating to the US, this location will be our top choice.

I am glad we were able to visit our friends, as we haven’t seen each other for more than 5 years already. Hope next time, we will be able to spend more time with them. Who knows, we might spend a night or two at their place so we can shop till we drop for days in the Outlet store near their house.

Additional Xmas Decors

Last Saturday, we attended the Christening of Baby Ashley Khloe, the daughter of my friend Mai and Paul. We left Jacobo behind as I have no nanny and B has a program in school. On our way home, there were a lot of roads that are close that we end up in the area of my husband’s favorite place, Suki Market.

Since we are in the area already, we decided to go down and check any new items for sale and so we end up buying:

Asawa ko addict na sa xmas light. May binili pa parol. Sana masabit bago mag dec 25. Haha

Another set of Christmas lights for the windows at the second floor and hubby bought a big Christmas lantern which he said he plan to put in the terrace at the 3rd floor.

It was raining the whole day Sunday and so he was not able to work on the lantern. He also said that we need to buy plywood or polycarbonate plastic to cover the area where he plans to put the lantern.

Oh well, hopefully he will be able to put it up before December 25. At least he has 20 more days left. LOL.
