The Dream House Project

me and my high school friends have long been planning for a get together for as long as I can remember but our schedules can’t seem to agree that the holiday season is already over and we still haven’t met up for our Christmas or New Year get together.

So we all agree that we will reschedule it this coming February for our group’s Valentines Party instead. I offered our home as the venue for the party as they hadn’t been to our new place yet.

Here are some of the ideas that we are planning:

1. Spa Party: I know there are a lot of Spas that offer home service and we are looking at getting one of those so we can have a relaxing time as we bond and catch up on each other’s lives.
2. Movie Marathon. I can ask hubby to setup an LCD projector and screen so we can watch our favorite movies or TV shows together.
3. Pizza Party. We can order pizza and have games that everybody can enjoy.

These are just some of the ideas at the top of our head now but I am sure more will pour as we have a lot of friends who have creative juice in them.

Since we did not have a Christmas party, we will still have exchange gifts during the party and so looking for the best girlfriend valentines gifts is one of the things that is keeping me busy also.

When we moved to our new house, we decided to retain the PLDT landline and DSL connection of the previous owner as we wanted to try another ISP as we are really not that happy with our Smart Bro subscription.

But for the past five months that we have been using PLDT DSL, we got headaches rather than better service. The internet connection is very slow especially if we are using the Internet all at the same time. If my husband or my sister watches video streaming, the other connections will be affected that I can’t even open Yahoo mail. Their service is down at least once a month and the down time will be for several days and sometimes weeks (3 weeks was the longest we experience with them with no Internet connection). Their customer service also is not commendable as I can’t get any decent solution from them every time I call for technical support or report any problem.

That is why when we experience a downtime again last week, I decided that we had enough and the P1700 that I am paying them monthly is not worth it with the service that I am getting from them.

So I called Globe and applied for a new Internet connection. DSL is not serviceable in our area and so we have no choice but to try Wimax. It uses 4G technology and they claim that they are the first to introduce this in the country. We got the bundle package with a landline and 1 MBPS of Internet connection. They also gave us a promo since we are switching from PLDT, and we will get 50% off on our monthly fee for 1 year. That is a big saving as we only have to pay P650 per month compared to P1700 that I am paying with PLDT.

Globe technician went to our house last Sunday for the installation but they have to come back the next day as something has to be configured in the modem. Hubby was able to connect the router to the modem and we were able to try surfing for a few minutes and the speed looks promising.

Hopefully, we really made the right choice in switching from PLDT to Globe.

My husband and I are just a few credits away to finish our masters degree but since we live a very busy life as we juggle between work, parent duties and our other business, it has been more than five years already and up to now, we haven’t finish our masteral degree.

Then maybe we can enroll in an Online masters degree programs and we will finally be able to obtain our masters degree. All we need is a place where there is peace and quite at home, like the reading nook and work area above, and we can concentrate and finally finish our masters.

This is still our biggest goal. Not that we will get a raise in our salary if we have a masteral degree but it is more of a personal fulfillment for us. Hope someday, we will be able to obtain this goal.

If we will be able to finish this project, then all that is left to be done is the installation of a wi ex to boost cell phone signal at home, and we can finally say that all the rooms in our house are now ready to be seen by our guest:


I was browsing Pinterest and saw this picture and I thought that this can be a good design inspiration for our foyer. Right now, we don’t use our main door, which leads to the foyer as it is still not yet furnished. It looks like a stock room now as it still has all sorts of our clutter when we moved in.

Hubby has been looking for design inspirations on how we can decorate our foyer and I am feeling that this could be the perfect design for us. I like the shabby-chic look that it exudes and the simplicity and the cleanliness of the room Also, we don’t have to invest and buy a lot of furniture (which is the case for hubby’s concept) as all we need is a simple sofa and wooden table and our foyer will be ready.

My cousin Tessa introduced me to Pinterest.com a long time ago but it is only now that I was able to create my account and explore the features of the site, and now I am addicted.

As what my cousin said, it is a very nice application as it is a collection of everything beautiful.

One of the sections that I would love to explore is their Home Décor section where I browse pins of members on tips, ideas and suggestions for home decorating. One of the most valuable pins that I discovered today is this:


My hubby loves putting frames up our wall but it can get really chaotic sometimes as he has no definite plan or concept, that frames ended up to just be all over the place. With this guide, hubby can get insights and tips on how to organize our frames to create great wall decorations.

We actually need one in our living room and I wanted a collage of our family photos, maybe something like this one:


Hopefully we can embark on this project soon and these guides will help us achieve a cohesive and pleasing look for our living room.

We have PLDT DSL connection for our internet connection at home and right now, I am already filing for an application to subscribe to another company that can provide for an alternative broadband connection for us.

I am an unsatisfied customer of PLDT as their connection is always down. Never will a week pass that we will not have any problems with our connection and it takes several days before they send over their technical engineer to check the problem. Because of this, it forced me to decide to discontinue our subscription with them.

I guess PLDT is not yet familiar with Infosurv and how it can help them conduct customer satisfaction survey so they can get feedbacks and complains from their clients which can really help them in improving their service.

Infosurv is the leader when it comes to online market research and they provide various services like prediction markets, employee engagement, customer survey and the like and they have been helping businesses to expand their target market and provide better services not just for their customers but for their employees as well.

There are a lot of Internet Service Providers out there which I am sure will have a much better service than PLDT so they better start acting so they will stop loosing their clients like me.
